About Elegant Fine Finishes

Elegant Fine Finishes is a dedicated antiques and furniture refinishing studio owned and operated by a very long-time, experienced refinisher. Let me introduce myself; I am Linda Frame, a lifelong resident of Lake Geneva. From heirloom cabinets and dining tables to well-loved accent antique pieces, every project is treated as a one-of-a-kind restoration, not a quick refinish job. In fact, there is no quick fix in refinishing and restoration. In my work, no work is sent out, no pieces are dipped in vats to strip, stain, or add finishes. ever. In my shop, All Work is Done By Hand.

My work is different because of how I was trained in this skill by my dad. He was a master craftsman who taught me, as a very young girl, how to restore and refinish anything wood. He instilled in me how wood truly behaves—how grain reacts to water, moisture, hand and skin oils, chemicals, mold, weight pressure, sunlight and UV, heat and cold, sanding, and how every decision we make changes the life of a piece. I was taught all of this for a specific reason; he first trained me to restore and refinish wooden boats throughout my first eighteen years, where every wooden boat surface had to withstand weather, water, and hard use. After my college years, obtaining an RN degree, I still did refinishing work on off days. After being recruited as an RN in Trauma Care on weekend/holidays, I opened my restoration/refinishing shop on weekdays.

When I retired from Trauma nursing, I continued all of those early, rigorous years of training, which shaped not only my technical skills but my life’s passion and profession: I am still today the same dedicated, professional refinisher and restorer with over 45 years of hands-on experience. All of this work and experienced approach is not a DIY hobby, but instead a serious, technical craft. By treating each antique and piece of furniture with patience, respect, and precision, the finished process not only looks beautiful now, but will continue to live, age, and be used, as it was meant to be, for many years to come.

A cozy restoration workshop scene with a close-up view of hands carefully working on an ornate antique wood furniture piece, focusing on detailed carving and fine finishing tools on the bench. No face or head visible in the frame, just the torso, arms, hands, and the intricate antique piece in a warm, professional shop setting.
